Rodney Rogers, Leader of Two Back-to-Back Unicorns, to Keynote NEXT Venture Pitch 2021

PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE- August 3, 2021

Rodney Rogers, a recognized successful serial entrepreneur and expert technologist, will share insights gained from 30+ years in the technology services industry at the September 16th event in Greenville, SC

Greenville, SC- The sixth annual NEXT Venture Pitch conference is set to take place on September 16th in downtown Greenville. The conference will feature an action-packed agenda, with esteemed keynote speakers, a riveting pitch competition featuring a live Q&A session between pitch presenters and VC judges, and an Educational Leadership Series built to drive entrepreneurs to the next level.

Rodney Rogers, known for his leadership contributions in the realization of two back-to-back “unicorns”-start-ups that achieve billion-dollar valuations- will be kicking off the NEXT Venture Pitch conference as the opening keynote speaker.

“In over 20 years of venture investing, I’ve not worked with a better CEO in the country than Rod,” observed Alan Taetle, General Partner, Noro-Moseley Partners. “His remarkable executive experience combined with his thoughtful communication skills should make this a great keynote for all serious entrepreneurs of the Carolinas”.

Rod has been the recipient of numerous technology industry awards including being a 3-time E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year finalist, an Intel Capital Entrepreneur/Exit of the Year winner, and an American Business Awards CEO winner.

Rod most recently led Virtustream, the enterprise-class cloud company trusted by organizations worldwide to run their mission-critical applications. He co-founded Virtustream in 2009 and was Chairman and CEO prior to its acquisition by EMC Corporation (NYSE: EMC) in 2015 for $1.2 billion. Virtustream’s acquisition marked one of the largest private technology start-up exits globally in 2015

Prior to Virtustream, Rod was co-founder, Chairman, and CEO of Adjoined. From its inception in 2000 through its acquisition by Kanbay (NASDAQ: KBAY) in 2006, Adjoined was known as one of the fastest-growing US-based IT services companies in the industry, and its final cash/stock acquisition value of $235m reflected a premium multiple for a private IT services start-up in the post-2000-era.

Today, Rod operates as a founding partner of the Blue Lagoon Companies. Blue Lagoon, through its various entities, develops, advises, and invests in disruptive technology start-ups and next-generation technology companies.

This news joins other agenda confirmations released by NEXT Venture Pitch in recent weeks. The confirmed schedule for this year's event and a full list of attending investors can be found online. Tickets for the event, which will be held in downtown Greenville on September 16th, are on sale now.
